We talked about diagrams and labels with this Easter bunny. It's hard to see in this picture, but there is a line from the sticky note to each part. The bunny is holding our class' Egg-cellent Easter stories.
To practice the writing process, we decided to write Easter stories. We are all authors in first grade! Everyone has an Easter story to tell, whether it be a narrative story about something that happened to them on Easter, or a fiction story that they made up. The first step in the writing process is to brainstorm ideas. We made a list of what we could write about, related to Easter. We came up with SO many ideas!
Next, students wrote their rough drafts in their writer's notebooks. Then each students edited and revised their writing, with my help. Finally, students copied their "published" draft on this egg paper. We put all the stories together to make an egg-cellent class book. The stories turned out so great and so different!
