I loved the Grimm's version of Cinderella when I taught sixth grade. (The sisters cut off their toes and heels to fit the slipper and at the end the birds peck their eyes out. Yeah, I had those kids eating out of my hand for our fairy tale unit1) Actually, fairy tales were originally written to scare children into being good...but they only know the sappy Disney-fied versions!
